The Blackjack Table
The semicircular green-felt Blackjack table has seats for up to seven players along its curved side, with the dealing facing them from the midpoint of the straight side.
In front of the dealer are positioned:
- Chip Rack: Holds all the chips, which players buy from the dealer.
- Drop Slot: A slot through which the dealer drops money into a secure box.
- Shoe or Decks: To the dealer’s left, the dispenser, usually holding 6 or 8 shuffled decks, from which the dealer deals card; or decks themselves.
- Dealer’s Cards: An area beyond the chip rack where the dealer’s cards are dealt.
In front of each player are positioned:
- Chip Area: A spot for players to keep their individual chips.
- Betting Square: In front of each player, an area, often a card-shaped rectangle, on which chips are placed for betting, beside which each player’s cards are dealt.
